Desing illustratrice_ Aurore de La Morinerie

Being one of the artists presented at the ‘Drawing Fashion’ exhibition, at the Design Museum, London, Aurore de la Morinerie is considered one of the most important fashion illustrators. Yet, her work is quite distinct and somehow detached from the mainstream fashion illustration trends, revealing a close affinity to the fine arts. As a fashion illustrator, Aurore de la Morinerie is bound to be representational within the context of figurative art, still leaving space for abstraction. Avoiding to define the figure with a distinct outline, she prefers to shape the volumes using solid coloured surfaces in conjunction with areas void, or seemingly void of colour. The sensitivity of the surface colouring techniques incorporated, give an impressive depth of texture while capturing the materiality of the represented figure.
Born in 1962 in Saint-Lô, Aurore de la Morinerie began her career as a fashion designer before starting her successful career as a fashion illustration and a parallel career as a fine artist, currently collaborating with Galerie Bartsch & Chariau, Munich, Germany.
