René Bouché_Ilustrator

















French fashion illustrator and artist, Rene Bouche was born in France in 1906. He was a successful painter and portraitist of his time. He began illustrating exclusively in black and white, though in his later illustrations he developed a strong sense of color. Bouche was already in his thirties, when he started working for the English and French issues of Vogue. In 1941, he moved to New York and started working for the American Vogue. Soon he became one of the top illustrators of the magazine. In 1957, he became special correspondent for Vogue. Bouche worked in pen and ink or crayon. His women illustrations were elegant and vibrant.

Rene Bouche died in 1963. He was the last of the old group of illustrators who worked for Vogue. His death marked the end of an era; when illustration was used consistently in fashion magazines.
