Patricia Urquiola Tufty -Time Collection

Tufty-Time is not only a re-interpretation of the past, but also an excellent, innovative solution for such issues as modularity, comfort and removable covers. Tufty-Time is an informal system, with free and versatile composition possibilities.

The modular system is made up of an ottoman, the basic unit, which can be matched with other central, corner and end units with high or low armrests. These elements form traditional sofas, chaise longue sofas, corner sofas and island elements a 360° seating solution. Especially welcoming in the greater-depth version, Tufty-Time becomes a meeting place, or a cosy refuge where to relax.

Tropicalia chair, 2008 by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso. The design starts off from the same structure as the Antibodi collection, though using weaving techniques. The collection comprises a chaise longue, couch, armchair, chair, outdoor bed, swinging nest.. A tubular steel structure with complex geometrical shapes, embellished with a clever weft of threads that alternate solids and voids to a specific pattern.

Each object in the collection takes on a different personality depending on the material and the colour used. It can be made playful and cheerful by using thermoplastic polymer threads free of heavy metal and recyclable, sophisticated and precious by using leather, simple and elegant by using HT polyester double plaited cords in either one or two colours. The coloured versions are made using three threads combining different colors.

Nina Chakrabarti_Designer

Nina was born and spent her early life in Calcutta, India. She moved to the UK in her teens carrying her stamp collection under her arm and little else. She studied illustration at Central St. Martins, and many years later, at The Royal College of Art.

Her work is often concerned with collections and the composition of objects. She works using Rotring pens, felt tips, biros, pencils, inks and the Apple Macintosh. She enjoys using different technologies and mediums and collaborating with others when the opportunity arises.

She lives and works in London, England.
